gateway!
today was a really fun day because finally, i got to do something else for a change instead of bumming out and just watching tv and spending "quality time" with the computer. went to gateway and spent a wonderfully fun-filled day with nicki, keishia, koko, jescia, apa, ces, and jill.
we had a blast at timezone, where the time spent there simply exuded media violence. we took out zombies and dead people come to life in the house of the dead 2 and martial arts people in another martial-arts related game [don't know what it's called] with guns. duh. anyway, even if it went everything ms galicha taught us in media awareness, it was something i tried for once and sickeningly so, i kinda enjoyed seeing all those things taken out and beaten. we also car-raced, something i'm mediocre at but something i thoroughly enjoy. i'm just wondering if you really have to keep turning the steering wheel right and left to stay in one direction. well, just musings of a confused mind. oh and yeah, ms galicha would've positively glowed with pride if she had seen the ride nicki was on. completely non-violent and relatively, i mean, completely safe. how much harm can you possibly get from a yellow-pink-and-blue contraption that gently swayed from side to side in tune to a nursery rhyme?
*warning: next part may contain spoilers [if you ever intend to watch the movie, that is.]well, the icing on the cake, the cherry on top of our fun outing was when we watched moments of love. now don't think any of us swooned and were na-kilig when we watched it. in fact, we weren't even supposed to watch it. we were supposed to see either ice age 2 or she's the man, but jill "suggested" that we watch the movie, so we did. we wanted something new for a change, so a pinoy movie it was. truth is, i'm really not much of a fan of pinoy movies [i sound really unpatriotic, i know] and i almost don't watch them. i've watched around three movies in the past three years. truth is, there's only a select few pinoy movies that are, well, worthwile entertainment. there are times that it contains too much drama and crying, kaya nakakaumay panoorin.moments of love was pinoy cheesiness at its finest. the movie contained really mild [and quite shallow] humor and it was utterly predictable the whole time. we were able to guess most of the situations and turn-outs [is there such a word?] in the story. to me, the plot was unoriginal, seemingly taken from good foreign films, with only slight modifications. the movie was like a remake of somewhere in time [jane seymour and christopher reeve were the actors] and the love letter [campbell scott and jennifer jason leigh], especially the love letter, where the two people [one present, one civil-war time] communicated with each other through an antique desk, not a phone, like in moments of love. despite that, it was fun watching the movie because we got to criticize it. well, more like panning it. we were giggling when no one else was, and positively guffawing at the last part, because we thought it sounded funny when the old lady professed her love to her late fifties sweetheart, who was, i think twenty-four years old. we went to fully booked after to browse at some books. didn't see anything i liked, and besides, i didn't have enough money left [most went to the arcade] so i didn't buy anything. i had to leave after some time, so i said good-bye to nicki, ces, koko and jescia. we planned to meet again in may and watch a movie marathon. seeing them today made me miss them more. hope we have more of these outings.
