childhood memories
how often do you revisit your childhood? can't say i do too much, but just recently, i decided to. i took this storybook [bunnies, bunnies, bunnies. a treasury of stories, songs and poems] from the bookshelf and immersed myself with stories about, you guessed it, BUNNIES. haha. they were given to me by my neighbor, christine, during one of my birthdays. one of my favorite tales there is the tale of peter rabbit by beatrix potter. ang cute. heee. it's about this naughty little bunny, peter, who decided to get into some mischief and broke into Mr. McGregor's garden to eat some lettuce and French beans. unfortunately, he came across Mr. McGregor and was "most dreadfully frightened". he ended up losing his shoes, his new blue jacket with shiny brass buttons, landed with a splash into a watering can, and needless to say, he was scared to death. he eventually got out of the garden, but he got sick, so during dinner, the naughty little rabbit only got camomile tea while flopsy, mopsy and cotton-tail had bread, milk and blackberries. haha. it's like one of those stories our mothers used to tell us so we would learn our lessons. my mom used to do it, like when i was "training" for a spelling bee, she asked me to spell spaghetti [hey, i was really young then. haha] and she told me that if i couldn't spell it, she would never ever buy me jolly spaghetti again. little kids are easy to manipulate aren't they? haha. give them something to do and they'll do it, often struggling like it's a herculean task, even if it's just distributing art materials to their classmates. i've noticed that with kids, lalo na kung teacher yung nagbigay nung instruction. brown-nosers. haha. we all did that. when apples were short of hand, stickers would be the best substitute. prep teachers must be unendingly patient. haha. another silly entry.
